What is the purpose of the references?

Your references simply provide the reader with the relevant known information and science that were previously published to provide context and justification for your study. In addition, some references will be utilized to enable the interpretation of the findings from your study. Many different reference styles are used for both the citations in the text and in the reference list. Both are almost always explicitly stated in the author’s instructions.
